Carnegie Plant Biology Summer Intern Program - A free summer program in which high school and undergraduate students can contact a researcher and apply to work in his/her lab. Great opportunity for those interested in biology research!
Children's Discovery Museum - Youth 16 years old + can volunteer year round. Must attend a volunteer orientation and be able to dedicate 50 hours/year.
Girls Who Code - Local club chapters (nearest is at Evergreen Library) and free summer immersion programs throughout the Bay Area. Applicants do not need any prior coding experience!
Maker Faire - An arts, design, and engineering festival in the Bay Area. Open to all ages. Usually occurs during a weekend in May.
San Jose Math Circle - Offers summer and year round programs in which middle and high school students extend their math and logic skills through "difficult, original and always fun mathematical puzzles."
Santa Clara University's Summer Engineering Seminar - A free application-based program open to high school sophomores and juniors "who are interested in exploring the field of engineering. The program is designed to acquaint participants with the engineering profession, the academic expectations of college, and the nature of life at a university." The program is intended for students who have no previous experience or coursework related to engineering. Strongly encouraged: women, first generation college students, and others underrepresented in engineering. Applications typically due end of March.
